Partnering with Local Businesses to Build West Virginia’s Recovery Workforce
What’s the Program?
The Recovery Works Volunteer Apprenticeship connects local businesses with motivated volunteers who are clients of the Greenbrier County Day Report Center. Volunteers are justice-involved and in recovery. Each “apprentice” volunteers 8 hours per week for about 6 months to learn the SKRT (Skills, Knowledge, Resources, Training) of a trade — the practical pathway to a job in your field.
Transportation, scheduling, and coordination are handled by the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) Center for Rural and Community Health (CRC) and Mountain Transit Authority, making this a low-risk, low-burden partnership for employers.
