Monroe County: small-town living surrounded by friendly folks

Monroe County, West Virginia is a comfortable place where modern lives are surrounded by the beauty and wonder of history. From covered bridges to vintage mills, churches, and cemeteries, the past continually delights today’s visitors. Our area was home to several resorts built around mineral springs. Perhaps the most notable is the Sweet Springs Resort, where the main building was designed by Thomas Jefferson.

Our county also provides access for hikers ready to venture onto the Appalachian Trail and Allegheny Trails, as well as the natural wonders and recreational resources of George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. More than just a great place to visit, Monroe County is also a delightful (and remarkably affordable) place to live, offering the amenities people expect along with the small-town friendliness that isn’t always easy to find these days.
